American Symbols

Our class learned a lot about the American symbols.  We learned they stand for freedom.  We learned about the American flag, the Bald Eagle, the Statue of Liberty, and the Liberty Bell.

The American flag has 50 stars for the 50 states.

The bald eagle stands for strength.  They build nests up high in trees.

The Statue of Liberty holds a torch in one hand and a tablet in the other.  It stands for friendship between countries because it was a gift from France.  You can go inside the statue.

The Liberty Bell has a big crack in it.  It cracked on the first ring.  They rang the bell on Washington's birthday.

We loved learning about these symbols and reading nonfiction books about them!

  2. I agree, Mrs. Brown. I am impressed with their eagerness to learn more about the symbols on their own and how much new information they acquired about them! I am glad they found this unit interesting!
